What this site collects, why, and what we do with it. The short answer: very little, only to answer you, and never sold.
The short version
This site collects only what you choose to send us through a form, plus the basic technical information every website receives when you visit. We use it to answer you and to keep the site running. We don't sell it, we don't use advertising trackers, and we don't run analytics on this site.

Bonaventure Design is a web design and development studio run by David Brindle. When this policy says "we" or "us," it means Bonaventure Design.

What we collect
When you send a work order or contact form
We receive what you type: your name, email address, and whatever else you choose to include, such as a phone number, organization, current website, start date, the services you ticked, and your message. We also record which page you sent it from.
The form arrives as an email. A backup copy is kept in the website's database in case an email ever fails to deliver. Only the most recent 200 submissions are kept there; older ones are removed automatically.
To stop automated spam, the site briefly notes a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address so it can limit how many messages come from one place in a few minutes. That record expires after ten minutes.
When you visit
Like every website, our server receives your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. Our hosting and security providers use these logs to deliver the site, block attacks, and fix problems. We don't combine them with anything else or use them to identify you.
Cookies
This site doesn't set advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site. Our hosting and security network may set a strictly necessary cookie to tell real visitors from automated attacks.
If we ever add analytics, we'll update this page first.
Services that help run this site
- Hosting and security. The site is hosted on managed WordPress servers with a content delivery network and firewall in front of it. These providers process visitor requests and server logs on our behalf.
- Fonts. Some typefaces load from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. Your browser contacts those services to download the fonts, which shares your IP address with them.
- Email delivery. Form messages are sent through an email delivery service so they reliably reach our inbox.
Each of these providers handles data under its own privacy policy. We don't give them your information for their own marketing.
How we use your information
- To reply to you and discuss your project.
- To prepare proposals, and to do the work if you hire us.
- To keep this site secure and working.
We don't sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.
How long we keep it
Emails about a project are kept as ordinary business correspondence for as long as they're useful, and for as long as tax and business records require. Backup copies of form submissions are limited to the most recent 200. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited time, usually a few weeks.
If we work on your website
If we build, host, or maintain your website, we may have access to data your site collects from its own visitors. We use that access only to provide the services you've asked for, keep it confidential, and follow your instructions about it. Your site should have its own privacy policy for its visitors, and we're glad to help you write one.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call 502-233-1110 or send a note through the contact form and we'll take care of it. We'll only keep what we're required to keep for business or legal records.
Children
This site is meant for businesses and organizations. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Other websites
We link to client websites, our client support site, and other services. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn't cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
